Our Approach
At Center of Education Pride, every programme combines formal instruction with practical, assessed exercises. We do not teach theory for its own sake — everything we cover is directly applicable to the working environments our students will enter.
Graduates leave with a qualification they have earned through demonstrated competence, not just attendance. Employers in the security industry know what to expect from a Center of Education Pride graduate.
Programmes
The most comprehensive entry pathway into the security industry. Our graded programme takes students from Grade E — the starting point for all PSIRA-registered officers — through to Grade A, the highest operational grade in the industry.
Each grade is taught and assessed separately, building progressively on skills and legal knowledge. Students who complete the full pathway are prepared for a wide range of deployment environments and are qualified for supervisory and site management roles.
Instruction covers the legal framework of private security in South Africa, patrol and observation techniques, communication and reporting, incident management, access control fundamentals, fire awareness and emergency procedures.
The armed response sector is one of the most active employment areas in South African private security. This programme prepares students for the specific demands of armed response operations — fast-paced, client-facing and requiring sound judgement under pressure.
Training covers alarm response protocols and interpretation, vehicle patrol techniques, client communication standards, situation assessment, escalation and de-escalation procedures and handover to SAPS when required. Candidates must hold a relevant security grade before enrolling.
Practical exercises simulate real response scenarios, including false alarm management, threat verification and perimeter inspection. Students are assessed on decision-making speed and accuracy as well as technical procedure adherence.
Technology plays an increasing role in modern security operations. Control room operators and CCTV technicians are in growing demand across commercial, retail, industrial and residential security environments.
This programme covers the operation of closed-circuit television surveillance systems, control room procedures, multi-site monitoring, incident classification and the proper escalation and reporting of security events. Students gain proficiency in the systems, protocols and documentation standards used in professional control environments.
On completion, graduates are equipped for roles in dedicated security control centres, estate management environments and large commercial operations where remote monitoring is a primary security function.
Access control is one of the most widely deployed functions in the security industry. This programme focuses specifically on the systems, procedures and professional skills required to manage entry and egress effectively across a range of environments.
Students learn visitor management procedures, vehicle inspection techniques, electronic access system operation, biometric and card-based systems, and foot patrol methodology. The programme also covers shift handover, site documentation and working within the authority limitations of a security officer.
On completion, graduates are qualified for access control posts at residential estates, industrial sites, corporate campuses, hospitals, shopping centres and government facilities.
Close protection is a specialist field requiring a specific combination of physical composure, tactical awareness and professional service. This introductory programme provides the foundational knowledge and skills for students who wish to pursue a career in personal protection.
The programme covers threat and risk assessment principles, advance work and route planning, protective formations, motorcade procedures, client communication and the legal framework governing the use of force in close protection contexts. Physical fitness and professional presentation standards are assessed throughout.
Note: This programme has specific entry requirements. Candidates must meet the minimum age, experience and fitness standards before applying. Contact admissions to confirm eligibility before submitting an application.
